For as long as human being started making cities, they developed many architectural landmarks. Sometimes, these buildings came to be so amazing that they became the focal point of attraction in the locality. They either accentuate or contrast with surrounding landscapes, and often develop an identity all of their own. Hang Nga Guesthouse (Crazy House), Vietnam

This building has been designed by the famous women architect Hang Nga, the daughter of the ex-president of Vietnam. The sculptured rooms within the house have been connected by superslim bridges rising out of a tangle of greenery. Moreover, there is an excessive lava-flow-like shape, floral colours, spiderweb windows and swooping handrails resembling jungle vines. And, inside the building, there are motifs of wild creatures, such as giraffe and spider. It seems that the architect aimed to entice people back to nature.

Capital Gate — Abu Dhabi, UAE

Capital Gate is the world's furthest leaning man-made tower. The central part of the building leans in the opposite direction, and it straightens towards the top, forming a funnel shape together. Due to its strange design, each room inside has a unique shape. The 35-story tower is now one of Abu Dhabi's most famous architectural landmarks.

Forest Spiral - Hundertwasser Building

Located in Darmstadt, Germany, this residential building is famous for its unique façade and colourful grid pattern. Some of its peculiar features include the windows which appear dancing out of the line, the slanting roof-top garden planted with grasses, shrubs, and flowers. The building got its name because of its green roof.

Habitat 67 (Montreal, Canada)

Located in Montreal, Quebec, Habitat 67 is a brainchild of the famous  Israeli-Canadian architect Moshe Safdie. By presenting this eco-friendly architectural design in 1967, Moshe gave solution for high-quality housing in dense urban environments. Unlike other residential complexes, the building breaks the traditional form of orthogonal high rises as each apartment steps back from its immediate neighbour. This ingenious design ensures a constant flow of fresh air and maximum of natural light for each flat.

The Torre Galatea Figueras (Spain)

This museum is not just famous for its beautiful architecture but also for being the burial place of the Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dali. The painter lived there until his death. In the 19th century, it was a water tank that collected the water from the castle and redistributed it all around the city. It was redesigned in 1931 by a French architect, who made the walls to be thinner, making them only 80 cm (31 inches). Some of the eye-catching features of this building include the giant egg sculptures along the roofline, the unique colour, and designs on its exterior walls, and the garden.

Robot Building

Designed in 1985 by one of Thailand's best architects, Sumet Jusmai, the 20-story building is in the shape of a humanoid robot. Originally, it was built for the Bank of Asia in 1986, but now it is an office of the United Overseas Bank. The building's features progressively receding walls, antennas, and eyes, which contribute to its robotic appearance.

Atlantis

It is the majestic focal point of one of the most visited human-made islands across the world, Palm Jumeirah. The building offers a dazzling world of imagination, pleasure, and luxury. Using the theme of crystal and light energy, the building's interior incorporates moments of unexpected wonders. Moreover, the shimmering semi-precious stone work on the walls, and intricate fossilized shell and fish stone combined designs on the floor a create a sense of awe. Moreover, the classic Arabic designs on the exterior walls add to its beauty.
