INTRODUCTION

The nurse plays an important role in preventing people from illness and promoting their well-being by delivering the best quality care to the patient. Nurses can help obese patients by providing nutritional diet advice and offering strategies for decreasing their weight. The chosen health issue is obesity and the patient is diagnosed with covid-19 and also has obesity. Patient having obesity which increases the risk of severe illness which may affect impaired immune function. Obesity is a major concern of patients and nursing staff because the patient is diagnosed with COVID-19 which can affect another organ system. UK statistics of obesity is about 28% of adults are overweight. Approximately, it is estimated that 35 million UK adults are overweight and the majority of 67% of men and 60% of women have obesity issues. In the UK, men have higher rates of overweight as compared to women (Jeffries, 2022). Tackling obesity is one of the greatest long-term health challenges in the UK. Public health education(PHE) guidelines prevent people from being overweight and aware them of their health. The Health of Nation is the PHE guidelines or policy of the UK which was launched in 1992 and the main aim of this policy is the prevention of obesity.

MAIN BODY

The chosen factors are anxiety and depression which is a common psychological disorder and obesity which act as a key contributor to morbidity and mortality.  As per the view of David,  (2018), Depression adversely affects the quality of life and working ability of the patient. These factors influence the health of patient which faces many difficulties in surviving their life due to being overweight. However, overweight patients have low energy and are less motivated because they are not involved in any kind of physical activity. The patient works as an underground cleaner and have a sedentary lifestyle and poor food choice which can eventually lead to causing obesity. Due to overeating and unhealthy food depression and anxiety both be associated and that may impact the brain process (Dasso, 2019). Obesity increases the incidence of depression and anxiety because poor diet and excess saturated intake of fat and sugar promote metabolic dysfunction which causes anxiety and depression. The patient lives in a less affluent area of north London, where they have fewer facilities to cope with COVID-19 and obesity which can cause anxiety and depression. Poor excess of food, lack of healthy lifestyle, and due to fewer income patients cause anxiety and depression. Increases in cortisol levels cause anxiety because fat is built up in the stomach and leads to gaining more weight which can affect their immune system. The longer a patient experiences stress and anxiety which can eventually affect their physical and mental health. Due to excess weight and obese people have slow digestion and are more anxious which can lead to cause weight gain due to stress and mental disturbance. Anxiety and depression both increase the chance of developing obesity because anxiety cause fatigue due to a lack of energy people are unable to involve in any physical activity to burn calories on daily basis, which will lead to weight. Without regular movement, the body is unable to produce enough energy which can affect the physical and mental health of a person. Both anxiety and depression affect obese people due to environmental and psychological factors which lead to developing a high risk of causing obesity within the body (Park et. al., 2018).

As per the view of Yuan-Lung Cheng (2018), lower health literacy is associated with several diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension. Obesity is caused by inappropriate lifestyle factors, lack of health knowledge, and less awareness. Low health literacy gives a negative impact on health because people who belong to the less affluent area lack skills and knowledge and they are unable to understand the basic importance of health and does not aware of their health condition. Due to a lack of skills and knowledge, people consume unhygienic food and does not take the right decision about their health care concern and disease prevention which can lead to cause obesity. Low health literacy is the main factor that affects the mental and physical health of the patient because people do have not enough knowledge to take the right decision to reduce obesity and cope with their stress. Lack of skill and knowledge patient does not aware of obesity and their impact on physical and mental health. Lower health literacy and less income are the major factors that can increase the risk of developing obesity because people are unable to buy healthy and hygienic food which can prevent them from various diseases (Petrie et. al., 2019). People belonging to affluent areas have weak educational backgrounds so they are less aware to acquire the right information on medical treatment and health-related issues. They are less active and does acquire the proper information on health-related issues so they are unable to cope with excess weight. Less activity in regular movement causes a high risk of developing obesity within the body. Lack of income affects the lifestyle of the person and they are unable to identify the risk factor of their diseases. Health literacy is important because it can motivate people and adopt various approaches for weight loss, and consume healthy meals. Low income is highly associated with overweight and obesity.
